If the texture doesn’t cover the whole area of paint, just use the paper again. If it didn’t turn out the way you had hoped for, just add some more paint and try again. When you pull the magazine paper up off the wet paint, you will have the texture of your planet. You want to apply a medium to light pressure when doing this. While the paint was still wet, I took magazine paper and pressed it down onto the wet paint. I put all my colors down on top of each other in a circle that was LARGER than I wanted my planet to be. What color you put last, there will be the least of. In conclusion, what color you put first, there will be the most of. If you want a blue planet with green land, add blue before green. So when making your planet, add the colors in the order that you want the planet to appear. The colors I put down first were the colors that were most visible. I used navy blue, light blue, green, and white. Good luck, the desison to make your own prints and what is best, is a lot of trial and error.When making the planet, you need to decide what colors you want to use. And since I buy it from sams it is more aforable. As for paper I buy the Kodak Ultima from sams club. I need to beable to print 8x10 prints, but subdye printers this size cost to much. Untill they come out with something better this will have to do. Spraying does help, it keeps finger prints of and does protect, to what extent is debatable. That one I never got back,it was faded completly. It protected it some compared to one I put in another paper straight from the printer.
I use to spray with a matte clear coat that did not have uv resistant qualitys, and I use a print to put in the paper. Spraying it does protect it some I know for sure. The one sprayed on photopaper still looks great, but plan to do tests on ones in the sun. Right now i have someone hanging a pic that I made in florestent light and it faded a non protective print on thick paper, but was not photo paper.
I am going to do more tests on fading later. I spray my photos in a wraping paper box and put the boxes in rubber made containers, that keeps the debre off. The glossy I like the best, they changed the matte formula to a fast drying type and it just does not do good after the formula change. Sprays available that will slow down, if not stop fading.
